Sweden hosted the Nordic Junior Open Squash Championship, where fifteen-year-old Mehwish Ali made her country proud by winning a gold medal. Mehwish defeated France’s second seed, Ciara Boulanger, in the final match with scores of 11-5, 11-7, and 12-10.

Mehwish’s journey to the title started strong. She won all her group matches, first defeating Norway’s Vilde Odeh and then beating Denmark’s Camilla Thomsen, both with scores of 3-0. In the quarter-finals, she faced Belgium’s Alice Allard and won a close match. Mehwish continued her winning streak in the semi-finals against Camilla Thomsen, which led her to the final.

The Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation helped Mehwish succeed by providing financial support for her training and travel. Abdul Razak Dawood, the founder, said he was proud of Mehwish’s victory. He stated, “We believe in helping young talent. Mehwish’s win shows what can happen with passion and support.”

Mehwish’s sisters, Sehrish and Mahnoor, also did well at the tournament. Sehrish finished in fourth place, while Mahnoor took fifth. In the U-13 category, Sehrish won the gold medal, and Mahnoor earned silver. Mehreen Dawood from the foundation expressed joy in watching young athletes achieve their dreams and highlighted their mission to help these athletes reach their full potential.
