Recently a report was presented to the Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah. Additionally, the report cited the rise in underage marriages in rural areas of Sindh. Furthermore, it directed to the the flood, two years ago. Young girls are being bargained for money.

Connecting materialistic needs with social norms, the report spoke of underage girls being sold for money. Meanwhile, the flood devastation has added more to the illicit practice. Additionally, underage marriage inly adds more to the problem of child bearing and child mortality rate.

Pakistan already ranks high in underage marriages. Though Punjab has its fair share. However, Sindh is the only province completely banning child marriages. Meanwhile, Sindh also hold strict punishment for the doers.

On the other hand the report also spoke of the physical and psychological burden on young girls. Entrenched in a deeply patriarchal society females are stopped from getting education. Moreover, their body are vulnerable due to their growing ages. Therefore, children born mostly die at a young age.

Though the Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has ordered further investigation. But, considering the flood devastation has spanned for two years and ineffectiveness of law has certainly raised questions.

Considering the very wide picture, such scenarios help to understand the relation of financial well being and social norms and value. Moreover, the clash of civilizations in Pakistan is still visible due to the lack of education and mismanagement.
