American singer and songwriter Akon, who will visit Pakistan to kick off the World Soccer Stars event with concerts in Karachi and Lahore between April 26 and 29, has joined in the campaign to collect donations for the Basha and Mohmand dam funds.
After many celebrities came forward and encouraged everyone to contribute for the cause, Akon spoke his heart too. Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar is keen on rectifying the issue of water scarcity and ordered the creation of the Dam Fund last year – a fund that appeals to the public and Pakistanis abroad for donations for the construction of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam.
The Chamak Challo singer shared a tweet on Monday where he wrote, “This is a special message to all Pakistanis around the world, according to a United Nations report, water resources in the country will dry up by 2025, so I’m asking all Pakistanis living in the country and overseas to support the Diamer and Bhasha dam. So we can mobilize Pakistan into a better future.”

The singer himself seems extremely excited about the concert in Pakistan. In an Instagram post, the 44-year old said, “Salam #pakistan this is your boy, Akon!! Looking forward to giving #pakistan a concert you will never forget.”
The World Soccer Stars event had earlier brought football legends Ricardo Kaka and Luis Figo to the country for the purpose of launching the tournament.
This Sunday, the Smack That singer gave shout out to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and said on a Twitter video,
“Yo, Imran Khan, It’s ya boy Akon, I’m looking forward to coming to Pakistan, are you ready for me,”
