Christian Marriage Act (Amendment) 2024, under Article 75 of the Constitution of Pakistan, by President Asif Ali Zardari. Furthermore, it raises the minimum age for marriage to 18 years for marriage contracts, for the Christian community, for both men and women.
Moreover, the act amended Section 60 of the Christian Marriage Act of 1872. Previously, the marriage act for Christian men and women amounted to 16 and 13 years of age. However, the new Bill extends the same age across all boards. Moreover, the National Assembly unanimously accepted the Bill.
Speaking at the Presidential Palace, Asif Ali Zardari emphasized equal rights for all the minorities in Pakistan. Additionally, Bishop Abraham Daniel was present at the gathering. Moreover, the bishop praised the president for the bill and reminded previous steps taken by the president in his last term.

President, previously approved a job quota for the Christian community for government jobs, amounting to a 5% quota. Additionally, he allowed for the reserved seats in the Senate of Pakistan. Moreover, the senate declared 11 August to be National minorities day.
Human rights activists, organizations, and international communities are pursuing the government’s decision. However, Pakistan still faces its dilemma with minorities right about violence against minorities.
Additionally, data presented by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has presented data on minorities for 2021. Pakistan houses 96% Muslims, 2.14% Hindus, and 1.27% Christians.
