Sushmita Sen Opens Up About Being Harassed By A Teenager And Here’s What She Did

The groundbreaking anti-sexual assault and women empowerment #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have made their way from Hollywood to around the globe. Many Pakistani and Indian celebrities voiced their personal life sexual harassment stories that have changed their lives adversely. Recently, Meesha Shafi’s allegations on Ali Zafar was also in the wake of these movements.

On Monday, the renowned Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen recalled an incident where she was misbehaved by a 15-years-old boy. The very sweet, soft-spoken and graceful Sushmita was attending an event for women safety. During a media talk, when a reporter asked to comment on how safe the Indian women are, she replied,“So many times, people think that we celebrities don’t encounter things like misbehavior because we have bodyguards with us. Let me tell you that we are dealing with the crowd of hundreds of man who often managed to misbehave with us very easily”.

Recalling the incident, Bollywood Diva said that six months ago at an award function, a fifteen-year-old boy misbehaved with her as he thought that she wouldn’t notice because of the crowd around. But as he touched her back, Sushmita grabbed his hand from behind and was in utter shock to see that he was so young! He was a 15-year-old boy!

Instead of making noise, she held him by his neck and took him for a walk. During the walk, she warned him about the consequences if she informed her guards or media about what had happened but the boy denied having misbehaved at first but in a very serious mode, she told him to admit his mistake. The boy then said sorry and promised  thherat it will never happen again.

She ended the conversation with a remarkable moral and lesson for all. She said, “I didn’t take an action against him because I understood that the fifteen-year-old was not taught that such things are an offense and not entertainment.”

Sushmita Sen made her debut in Bollywood after winning the Miss Universe award in 1996 after which she appeared in numerous movies. She has proven with her work that she is more than just a beautiful face. Sushmita has been away from the silver screen these days but she is actively taking part in social activities. She was awarded Mother Teresa Award in 2013 for her efforts in rescuing from a war-zone in Sudan.

It is good to see that the celebrities are openly discussing these issues which making people believe that they are HUMANS too!
