Consent is an ethical code of conduct which is missing from many parts of Pakistan. From being sexually harassed to being killed for saying “no”, the accountability and screening of how people in Pakistan get away from murdering someone in the open air is something crucially missing.

Last month, theater actress and singer Sumbul Khan were killed in her own home by three gunmen. According to Independent.co.uk and local media publications, Sumbul Khan was approached to perform at a private party. The actress denied performing at the party, which led to the decision of abducting her.

When Sumbul Khan resisted her abduction, the gunmen shot fired, which led to the death of the stage actress.

According to the source present in the police department, a former policeman is also mentioned in the FIR registered in the follow-up of the case.

The source also revealed that the same policeman was involved previously in violence against another local stage actress.
