Just a few days ago, the news of Pakistan’s first ever transgender news anchor broke the internet and we couldn’t have been happier. Transgenders, for years, have been denied emotional and physical support from the country. They have been ridiculed and treated as a gender that was looked down upon.

While we still have a long way to go, there are a few examples which stand out and makes us proud of not just the trans community, but also of those who are stepping up to address the concerns of the transgenders and giving them the rights and opportunities they deserve.

Like the struggles every trans faces in Pakistan, Esha was also disowned by her family.

Despite being an MBA graduate (majoring in finance), Esha was denied jobs only because of her sexuality. For a while, she was forced to become a begger on the streets but she continued applying for job opportunities, hoping someone would put aside their homophobia.

Esha further shared how she is grateful to companies such as Vegas Cosmetics who understand the struggles of the trans community and give them a chance to make a living of their own. Esha requested other companies and even the government to take a note of this initiative and provide opportunities to others going through the same struggles as Esha.
