Today, I’ve gone through a horrifying incident which I thought was important to share with all of you. It is indeed important for you to be safe and vigilant during your journey.
I booked a ride in the evening with Uber. The driver was just a minute away from my home but he took up to 10 minutes at least to reach. After arriving at my home, he came out of the car for no reason at all and started wandering around and was trying to look inside my house. I came outside the house and sat inside the car with my mother. As we reached the main road, he started dialing some numbers. When someone picked up the call, he started shouting at him like “kahan hy tu?” He was abusing the person and then shared my dropoff location with him.
After a minute, he made another call and he shared my drop off location, once again. It was all happening a little too fast and we were shocked to see what was going on. He was shouting and telling the person on the call about his drop off destination. I asked him to stop the car but he didn’t.
When I forced him to stop the car, he was like “Baji mujhe bhi wahen per jana hy or mujhe us jagah ka pata bhi nahi so please be there with me.” I strictly refused and as he slowed down the car, I asked him to stop by opening the door in a rushy place from where we were passing through.
As I came out, he asked for money. I asked about fare while standing outside and he collected the same fare which was displayed on the Uber App screen while the trip was just of 7 minutes. He said that he has been updated the ride and charges will be applied for sure.
I was afraid so I just throw the money from inside the car window and ran from there. It was such a terrible experience for me as I’m riding with Uber for 1.5 years or more. I’ve also made an email to Uber for escalation of an issue as well but even after 24 hours of the complaint, no one bothered to contact me.
