Behind closed doors lies the woman who is being brutally abused by her husband. Behind closed doors is a family who sees the woman of the household being tortured by a man who cannot control his abusive nature. This story is not a tale, but something that has become a bitter part of the reality in various parts of the world, especially in the South Asian families.
What’s worse is how there is no accountability in many parts of the world. Whenever any abusive domestic relation is talked about, the woman is told to keep quiet. Whenever she complains about the incident, the police never takes any action. This has become a norm in the South Asian societies.
The Power of the Internet, However, Is Different!
People on the internet understand how horrible the society has become and they raise the matters that gear attention every now and then.
A woman from Mumbai did the same. Amita Kaur took it to Twitter where she shared her story through a video message. Ashoke Pandit, an Indian filmmaker shared the video, asking the authorities to help the lady who is been going through domestic abuse.

She shared how the FIR has been lodged at the Khar Police but they have failed to take any actions to support/help the individual.
“RECENTLY, I WAS ELECTROCUTED ON THE BED WHICH I SLEEP AND THE RECORD WAS RECORDED BY KHAR POLICE STATION. IN SPITE OF DOING AN FIR, THERE’S NO ACTION BEING TAKEN PLACE.”
Amrita shared that the husband, Gurpreet Singh has not only been beating her but has also had several extramarital affairs. Gurpreet Singh has also threatened to kill Amrita and she pleads to the social media users to help save her life, for she will kill her own self as she has no other choice.

This is not something that happens in India only – such things happen in our country, Pakistan. You yourself may know of a family where someone is making the life of an individual being hell through domestic abuse.
We hope the authorities start taking actions against these vile individuals who get away with such abusive crimes.
