I know, there might be so many of you who look forward to natural skincare remedies and spend hours on the internet just searching for regimes that won’t damage our skin. Relatable? Thought so! Many women out there, especially those who are working full-time, tend to neglect their skin and rather opt for quick remedies, that too, after a month or so.

What they don’t realize is that they’re damaging their skin. Ever wondered how Asians maintain their beautiful skin? Majority of them have a flawless, poreless skin! Skin which some women would envy and literally kill for. No kidding! There was a time when women looked forward to buying Korean products because the ingredients used in Korean products such as birch juice and yuzu fruit targets pores and gives a smooth looking skin without using silicone in their products.

We came across one such brand ‘Aodour’, that sells Korean skincare products, that too in Pakistan. Life Saver! The walk-in store is located at Emporium Mall, Lahore and we couldn’t be more excited (screams internally)!! In fact, we also had a chance to speak to the CEO, Eric Wu and asked him ALL about the products.

Let’s get started!

1. Eric, how would you introduce yourself?

E: It has been 5 years since I’ve come to Pakistan after graduating from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. I love to travel and fell in love with Pakistan the day I came here and I decided to stay and start a business. Being a foreigner, I was not sure if I can do so but everything started coming together and here I am.

2. What do you love most about Pakistan? Was that also the reason why you chose to stay here and start a venture?

E: So far, I love the people, the culture, and the food in Pakistan. However, I did notice a gap in the market particularly in makeup. People lacked the awareness of skincare, and how important it is to take care of skin. And that is what made me come up with this venture.

3. What brought you close to skincare and sparked initial interest to work in a related field?

E: Around the world, people are more inclined towards skin care, take Koreans for example. Their skin is their priority when it comes to beauty. Even in Europe, Middle-East and China, people believe that the early you start taking care of your skin, the better it is when you get older. But I didn’t see any such concept here so I thought of promoting skincare and help people get authentic products here in Pakistan. It feels great that people are happy and finding it very convenient to come and shop from us whether from the store or online.

4. We knew K-Drama and K-Pop, and we certainly are gaining awareness of the ever popular K-Beauty products, how are you contributing to the trend?

E: Oh, I used to watch a lot of K-drama in my university days! As for the K-beauty trend, it was already a global trend by the time it hit Pakistan, so I needed complete awareness and I needed to come up with a plan. I surveyed and did an extensive research. People around the world used the techniques and products from Korea and I brought some of the most recommended products from Korea to Pakistan.

5. What makes you prefer Korean and European brands? Will you consider more brands in the future?

E: Beauty has no boundaries, I only seek the best products and try to make them accessible in Pakistan and in the future as well. I will bring whatever I find best and bring it here.

6. What sets Aodour apart from the existing online stores and Facebook pages selling Korean products?

E: Aodour is a place where people can go and get the products. So, when you come up to us and you are unsure of your skin type or other skin concerns, we thoroughly help you with that. The products that we have are directly purchased from the brands so their authenticity is never questionable. Plus, the prices are competitive. You must only choose the best for your skin whether it is makeup or skincare and that is exactly what you get at Aodour.

7. Every business or venture has several challenges that they face in the first few years, what are the hurdles that you face?

E: That is very true and part of every business. I too face a lot of challenges. My aim is to educate people how skincare is essential and that everyone should include a nice skincare in their daily routine. Naturally, beautiful skin is a permanent solution. For this, I want people in the cosmetic industry, especially women skin care specialists. We can’t find them right now, but I’m sure we will.

8. How suitable are the K-Beauty products on Pakistani skin, do you think this is something that we needed and wasn’t there before?

E: Korean skincare products or as we say K-beauty products are in fact highly compatible with Pakistani skin. Their moisturizers promote healthy skin and cell regeneration. The ingredients used are coming from 100s of years before us. The products are manufactured for skin that is damaged with a lot of sun exposure, premature fine lines, dual-complexion and skin discoloration; the K-beauty products are highly effective for these problems.

9. What does Aodour aim for? Do you have a driving force?

E: The aim is and will always be to make good skincare and makeup products easily accessible, which we do not have in Pakistan. I want people to buy things without the fear of being ripped off or of buying cheap and fake products (which is very common here). We have plans of expanding in the near future, so I have my fingers crossed for that.

10. Where can we find Aodour and what other products do you have to offer?

E: We have a showroom at Emporium Mall Lahore and we are also available online. You can find all the brands women love for example we have Mac, Estee Lauder, The Face Shop, Nature Republic and L.A. Colors etc. We add new brands on a daily basis.

So, for those who are always stressed and worried about their skin, you guys now have a solution! Treat your skin with love and care because that’s what it deserves.
