1. When a woman with three daughters was crying because she couldn’t conceive a fourth time, trying for a son. Her husband had threatened to divorce her.
2. When a woman on the verge of kidney failure, for whom being pregnant was a death sentence, came to terminate her unplanned pregnancy because her husband didn’t like using contraception.
3. When a 24 year took abortifacients because her husband decided to divorce her after 5 months of marriage .
There’s honestly so many more stories that this list would never end. The fact that it’s ‘never happened to you’ doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Know your privilege.
We need to ponder on how unsafe the women are in our country because the continuous threat they have to face, even during pregnancy, even during childbirth. Being pregnant itself comes with a lot of stress, physical and mental and the family, including their husbands, as narrated in this post, sheds light on how difficult it is for women in many parts of this country.
