A woman here can’t walk alone past a group of men without being observed or whistled. Pakistan is no more a country for women to travel on their own, even they are not safe standing right outside their house.

Same happened with this woman who shared an awful experience while she was standing outside her house, waiting for office car to pick her up. She stated that in a Facebook post that:

“Hi everyone, I had a very disturbing/dangerous incident happen to me today and I wanted to share/ seek advice/ spread awareness. It was my first day at work today and I was waiting for the office car to pick me. I had agreed to meet the driver there. I was standing on the residential road and a black Mercedes came with a 40ish-year-old man, he stopped next to me and said, “I have come to pick you, ma’am”. I was a little suspicious because, it was a Mercedes, so I asked him his name, to which he responded Shehzaad, I knew the driver which was supposed to pick me was Mohammad Ali.

So I told him that and said maybe you have to pick someone else. He responded with a no, I was assigned to pick you today instead of Mohammad Ali. I was still confused and so I called the number of the driver given to me by the office. The real office driver answered and informed me that he has almost reached. I saw the office car with the label of the companies name driving towards me so I sort of ran towards it.

By this time the Mercedes driver started driving away, I tried to take pictures and noted the number plate – which after research from friends in the car showroom companies turned out to be fake- nevertheless its a CK 728- Islamabad plate. I’m scared this man must be scouting for girls waiting for office cars or Careem drivers in the morning. What is really scary is that, if it was a less fancy car, I would have probably believed him and would have agreed to sit in the car”.

Girls, be careful while traveling alone and do not provide any sort of the information to an unknown person.
