On and off, the incidents happening at malls are increasing on a daily basis in Pakistan. But the Pakistani awaam is now taking control of the matters very cleverly and smartly in their own hands. In fact, they have mastered this particular art. As social media has become a powerful source, people are now raising their concerns for maximum public awareness and well, let’s say, getting some attention on the matters too (which is actually not a bad thing).

Just recently, a video of another ‘mall incident’ surfaced the internet and it went viral over the weekend where a girl was shopping at an outlet in Dolmen Mall. After getting done with her shopping and heading over to the cash counter, she came across two other girls who were not only misbehaving with the staff but also with an elderly woman.

As per Hanish (the girl who recorded the video), here’s what she had to say:

Okay so after not taking any action against such customers by Dolmen Mall , I’m putting this up!
Before watching this I will give a brief about the background of the story. 

This bunch of illiterate girls and boys misbehaved with not just the staff but an aunty on the counter because she asked them to follow the rules and stand in the line, due to which I, standing in the cue asked her to lower down her voice in front of an elder person because everyone was waiting in the cue although she and her friends broke the line and came from the back on which she shouted loudly , just shut up okay I am not talking to you”, on to which I told her to “behave yourself you’re speaking to a journalist”, to which she replied “jao jao mein nhi derti tum journalists se, kahan ki ayi journalist” on which I turned on the camera and said, “Go Ahead” to which she turned the story on to me that “shout now , shout now” further you can see. Someone from the cue, a customer came to rescue which the staff was supposed to do,  No body from the management showed up even after asking from the staff of “INC” when this all started in the beginning else this wouldn’t have happened.

Later after the video, when in the end you’d listen I’m asking to call the security guards to control the situation because she pushed me hard and said, “show your face” , after which the video ended. This bunch of girls and boys left the mall. I did made a complaint on DMC reception to which they said we cannot take an action against because they have left the mall. Moral of the story is that in this country even helping someone gets you in trouble.

Nevertheless, there are always two sides of the story, right?

The other two girls contacted Parhlo and shared their side of the story as well.

Here’s what they had to say:

At #inc dolmen mall ….this a reply to very much literate person that without knowing anything and putting their nose into others matter. She just made the video because she wanted some likes and comments on her page and let people know that she is a so called journalist. Now let me brief the situation first and let people know what actually happened. I was there with my family at the billing counter in the queue and we were almost done with the billing.

Meanwhile, a guy started telling my sister that she’s not from the same family and why are you bringing more things to the counter? So, his mother started shouting at my sister. With all due respect, I said, “Yes ma’am, what is the matter?” I told her that we are from the same family and bill will be paid all together. The aunty was totally fine with it as she said, “Okay”. The conversation was over.

But then, all of a sudden, a so-called journalist who was trying to be a ‘Wonder Woman’ start shouting “What happened?” So I told her that we are not talking to you. I don’t know from where she came and why did she start shouting and threatening me and my family and said, “I will make a video and upload it on social media because you don’t know that I’m a journalist”. So, she took her phone out and started filming and started provoking and threatening my family and I.

Although she was in a chance to ask the cashier to clear her bill first saying, “I have only few items, so please, first clear my bill (moral of the story of a Wonder Woman ). She didn’t know anything and started shouting and made a video and posted on social. Also, she was fingers on our religion which clearly shows who is literate and illiterate. Her friends also commented on our religion by saying, “Currantiyaan”. Well, thank God our parents taught us the manner of respecting all the religions.

That was the end of the whole incident. And one more thing, Hanish Qureshi, we do not believe in racism. I hope you get alot of likes and comments as this will help you in the future. Keep making such videos to get famous and by the way, when I started making the video, why were you quite? Just to show that you’re so innocent? First you tease and provoke people and then hide yourself behind your phone and yes, we aren’t from any media or source, but still, I want to show the reality of you and you are misusing the power of journalism and media. Please grow up and stop doing these publicity stunts.

Well, this has left us clueless. However, it would’ve been appreciated had the management taken the matter into their hands. What’s your take on this? Let us know in the comments!
