Believe it or not, but New Year’s Eve is one of the largest global celebrations because it marks the last day of the year in the Gregorian calendar, December 31, before the New Year. Countdown happens to the New Year and you get to hear it or know about it, even if you are a New Year Eve Grinch, no matter where you are in the world.

On one hand, it is a time to celebrate the end of the year gone by and welcome what is in store for the next New Year. On the other hand, some people experience a sense of nostalgia as they reflect on the events that took place in their lives in the past 12 months. However, there’s a reason to believe that maybe people in Pakistan don’t celebrate the New Year’s Eve with that much hype but just like the world, people of Pakistan would also want to get involved with the hope of unexpected joys the new year would bring.

Just like any other country, many people here start counting down to New Year’s Day in the last minute or seconds before the last night of the year ends and the New Year begins. Some people tune into watching televised countdowns and see the fireworks happen, some go to parties, and some just like to spend it with family. Although not believed in our religion and naturally society would speak against it, it’s not about disregarding our religion. It’s about spreading joy and love together.
