This Pakistani Girl was Publicly Demeaned at a Famous Mall in Karachi and It is not Okay

Pakistanis are generally a joy to be associated with, and you all know it! You are adventurous and love having a good time – laughing, cracking jokes, and pulling people’s legs. That is until someone does or says something that shakes our entire being, making it absolutely certain about the fact that whilst we are generally frank, we are also humans who can easily get hurt.

Most of us have probably laughed at someone’s appearance, their voice, accent, manners or something personal at some point. We have probably made crude observations and comparisons, publicly or privately; without even realizing how hurtful it can be. The prioritizing of minor enjoyment, a moment of pleasure, over the genuine harm we can cause to others seems a misplacement of said moral priorities.

Just recently, a woman was seen at Karachi’s Lucky One Mall, going backward on an escalator and people around her started mocking and vexing her which was completely disgraceful! What benefit did it make being offensive to moral sensibilities and injurious to reputation?! When being teased, you might feel that your blood is boiling or that you are on the verge of tears. To avoid reacting, ignore their comments completely.

This happens in all forms of humor and in every kind of medium. Yet, what’s forgotten here is that there are people targeted; there are individuals with physical characteristics, ways of speaking, differing weights that either are direct targets who they watch being targeted are afraid to say anything out of fear of being targeted themselves. Is mocking or demeaning someone is all that some of us have learned from our parents? Is this what our religion teaches us? No, right? This is absolutely a soul destroyer.

Instead of making fun of the woman who made a misapprehension at Karachi’s mall, had anyone of the mockers would correct her showing the right way, this video would not have gone viral. We should always be cautious about our acts that we intentionally or unintentionally do to hurt others.
