Sana Mir Talks About the Stereotypes She Had to Break As a Female Cricketer

When it comes to women doing something they wish or dream to do, it is a difficult task in a society like ours. Women in sports wasn’t a common thing in our society. Women had to settle for other professions and were asked to leave their passion for any sport behind due to the embedded stereotypes.

Safe to say, the Pakistani female cricket team has done a lot to put aside these stereotypes. Through thick and thin, they have tried to strive – without any sponsors, without proper coaching, without proper funding and whatnot.

Sana Mir, the Pakistani Cricket Team’s Captain Had to Share Some Stories that Reflect on the Struggles Women in Cricket

In an interview with Anushay Ashraf at her morning show, Sana Mir and other players of the Pakistan female cricketing team were asked a number of questions regarding the stereotypes they faced. She said that people asked extremely unrealistic questions such as, “do you play cricket with tape ball? How long can women actually play?” and such questions.

She also shed light on the recent controversial post she made regarding a brand that would want smooth arms. She mentioned how women should be allowed to be comfortable in their skin and unrealistic impressions shouldn’t be enforced upon them.
