I am Rukhsar from Pakistan but born & bought up in the United Arab Emirates. I have studied in Indian school but still, my love for Pakistan was so much because I can never forget my green passport which says I am Pakistani.

I am 19 years old girl living with my family. My parents and my three younger sisters and I have a step brother from my dads first marriage. My step brother’s wedding was in Pakistan because the girls live there. I, along with my dad and my younger sister went to attend my brother Shehzad’s wedding in Dudahal, Chakwal, Pakistan. We took off from Sharjah airport and successfully arrived at Islamabad airport on 19 MAY 2017 via AIRBLUE airline.

Unfortunately, upon my arrival, I lost my luggage in which I had all my valuable items like jewelry, clothes, makeup, laptop, mobile phone & some gifts for relatives. I even had some cash in my luggage as I didn’t want to carry it in my purse due to fear of it getting stolen. But I didn’t have any idea that I would lose all my luggage at the airport! I filed a complaint against them and the air blue staff asked me to wait for about two weeks; until that they couldn’t do anything. This made me cry and snarled at my dad that I didn’t want to attend any wedding as I have lost all my belongings. I didn’t have anything to wear! Plus, my beloved laptop, mobile, and cash all were gone.

My dad asked me to calm my nerves. He comforted me with his words and said we can go shopping and that I can buy whatever I like. I bought some clothes, a Q mobile, and other necessities. Any how; our brother ceremony started on MAY 22 2017 and after the endless traditional ceremonies, finally, the Nikah and Ruksati was on MAY 24 2017. On this day my entire family was cheerful and happy, except for my

On this day, my entire family was cheerful and happy, except for my phoppho (dads elder sister). Everything was all good when out of nowhere my phoppho came and tried stopping the nikkah ceremony. She even blackmailed the maulana to not proceed with the nikkah or that she will kill us all. Anyhow,  after all this drama, the nikkah ceremony was successful Alhumdulilah with Allah SWT’s blessings.

Because of this phopho tension, my dad felt a bit dizzy and his blood pressure got really low. He fainted and fell down. He even injured his hand badly. he’s been a diabetic patient since last 18yrs. Yet he got up and acted absolutely fine. After few days, Ramadan started and then on JUNE 4TH 2017 while my dad was fasting, he went to his sister to clear things between them. There were already a few people there, awaiting his presence.

He got attacked by 7 people who beat him brutally with heavy Bata shoes on his head and plates on his face. They damaged my dad’s face. His nose got fractured and he was drenched in blood; bleeding from head to toe. Thankfully, my dad managed to escape. My bhabhi’s elder brother and my step brother took him immediately to the hospital and we even complained to the police. But there was no police and no doctor in the hospital as it was the month of Ramadan. Apparently, it’s justified not to be on duty in Ramadan!

My dad bled and was in excruciating pain. The next day, the doctor came he did some bandage for my dad.  A case was filed against that devil phupho and the 7 people who beat my dad so badly. The next day, phupho and her husband came with some wounds and falsely alleged my dad of beating them. But the case wasn’t filed from their side as the time and date they had mentioned, that same time my dad was in hospital suffering from so much pain.

The police asked for a hefty amount as their fee just because we were from The UAE. They took our mobile phones and threatened not to buy new ones. From the other party, our phupho being more wealthier than us fed more money into the police pockets and as a result of that, they won the case, although all the evidence was in our favor. I even had videos as proof, but money talks. The case went on and what we got was data after date.Kahan ha insaaf; where”s the justice?

I always used to see in news and movies about police corruption and all but I never believed it. I said my Pakistan is the best and is nothing like they show but after this incident, I believed in every news. There is corruption and everyone needs money but in return, no one can give us justice. Because of this case, my dad stayed in Pakistan for a long time in return he lost his job and didn’t the justice he deserved. But still, we are surviving as I am a successful business lady and me and my dad both earn for our family needs.

We are still fighting this battle for justice. Pakistan is a country full of corruption; at least for me after this incident. I am not proud to be Pakistani. I am ashamed because I didn’t get my luggage back from Airblue nor my dad got his justice.

But deep down inside, my heart tells me that Pakistan is not all bad. If someone is bad, those are the people who live there. Who eat so much money and still their stomachs don’t get full? I am still waiting for justice and asking for help!
