You don’t have much to distract yourself when you have to follow bedrest instructions from doctors, so you can kill some time scrolling down your newsfeed. Tears roll down your eyes when you notice army being maligned at every forum!

Let me introduce myself. I am a fresh graduate who got married to a doctor and army man. I’m waiting for my husband’s safe return from Baltoro-Siachen. We got married a few months ago, it hasn’t even been a year since we got married.

My husband is at saddle post at 21,000 feet in Siachen. Thuraya (handset with which they communicate) works most of the time and we just spend sleepless nights hoping that he and his comrades would be fine. I was just filled up with all the negativity and foul language I could see on my newsfeed against the army, when I received a call from IHEC (International Hiking and Expedition Center) the same post where nowadays, major Uqbah (Ayesha Khan’s husband) is posted.

Yes. Right after Uqbah and Ayesha just got married and obviously, that’s not a family station, FCNA is not a family station! Anyway, the call was from my husband’s batchmate to inform that my husband is fine. My voice was shaking, he asked: “Bhabi! You seem worried, I am taking care of him regardless he is on the saddle and I am at IHEC but he is fine. Kya baat hai?”

I held my tears and said I am alright, bhai. Was I supposed to tell him that many qualified doctors, engineers, officers and soldiers from artillery, medical and other corps of Pakistan Army are being held accountable for leaving their families behind, freezing themselves in minus degree temperatures, only cause they consume so-called 80 percent budget? Kis Ke Liye De Rahe Ho Yeh Qurbani! My husband’s blood is worth Rs.50,000 thousand only! For God’s sake, he is a qualified MBBS doctor!

All of his batchmates are posted at Waziristan, Baluchistan, Kashmir, Siachen/FCNA and many of them just got married! Their job has made them prone to face Avalanches and Frostbites in Siachen, IEDs in Waziristan and Baluchistan, firing and shelling from across the border in Kashmir! Can you believe that only 50k per month is all your loved ones and unborn child’s father’s blood worth of? They spend their Eid away from us! We miss them on every single occasion, my mother-in-law has three sons serving in Army.

They say, when you can’t defeat an army, then the last resort is to start maligning and doing propaganda against it, destroy the civil-military confidence and think you are half way through it! Think before we become Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine!

Remember one thing, ISI or army never intervenes unless any civilian leader becomes a threat to national security. Due to these political leaders, not a single institution can work in floods, earthquakes, polio vaccine campaigns, cricket matches, conducting census and elections without the army. The army does not have enough time to conspire against any leadership. he army is busy indulged in proxy wars, cold wars, and challenges to our sovereignty.

In between PTI and PML-N, we will end up losing our Pakistan!
