UNICEF reports that over 370 million girls and women, nearly 1 in 8 globally, have experienced rape or sexual assault before turning 18. The number rises to 650 million when including non-physical abuse, like online harassment.
The report also shows that 240 to 310 million boys and men suffered similar abuse in childhood. UNICEF urges stronger global action, improved laws, and support for children to recognize and report sexual violence. Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest number of victims, with 79 million girls affected.
