In recent times, we just heard of an international advertising company serving in Pakistan to kick a female employee upon her hijab! The company in question was named shamed over the internet after the girl’s friend wrote a post about the incident. Later the word spread and the company reached out to people on the internet who questioned the accountability and credibility of the company. The girl was just hired in the company and after four days of her joining in, she was asked to leave and discontinue work because the said company thought they were liberal and thought that her “hijab” was a hindrance to it. The CEO asked the girl to resign when she asked them to give a notice for leaving. But after the internet rage, the company asked the CEO to step down!

Another such incident happened when a girl who’s been in debating and was a former president of the debating society in the university and have attended many MUNs was asked by LGS to attend the MUN to chair the WHO( world health organization) committee.

She went to Islamabad from Lahore through bus after the four-hour journey that she had, the moment she reached they asked her to leave and go back home.

She was made to leave the moment she arrived because the topic that was to be discussed was HIV AIDS and the secretary general thought that she would not be able to handle the topic to they are abolishing the committee

But the reality for why she was sent back was revealed much later

A hijabi's protestWhere are the people who strive for women rights….. Don't the Muslim hijabi's own those rights… Personally experiencing dogmatic norms of secular society I request you all to stand up with me and protest against this Naqab stigmaI am #ProudHijabi #WeNeedApologies

Some students from LGS later informed her that she was sent back because of the way she dressed! Her hijab was the problem, the reason they sent her back.

Much much later she found out the closed group of the committee that the same topic of HIV was still being discussed for which she was sent back.

After her video went viral she was approached by a committee member who told her that the committee was told that the chair couldn’t make it because of her personal reasons!

Now the question is, if we are talking about the freedom of expression and liberty and human rights; and later asking people to do as they are asked, what sort of freedom is that?

How intolerant society is becoming? Also, when there is nothing ethically, morally wrong in it!
