83% women face some kind of sexual harassment, whether it would be physical, abusive or cyber. And to fall into that ’83’ is very easy. You are not what happened to you, you are what you choose to be. You are strong. Very strong. Whether you cover your head or show your legs, you’ll be an easy offering. Is it very ironic that we as women ‘lower our gaze’ when we are stared upon and victimized on streets and malls and hospitals and workplaces and universities and every meter on this planet?

Just because you walk through a public space does not make your body a ‘public space’. Our lives bring us to doom when we stop discussing things that matter. When ‘izzat’ lets us be ‘beizzat’. When consent is just a stupid question. When forgetting gets difficult. And remembering gets worst. When we become ‘victims’ instead of ‘survivors’ and ‘fighters’.

Dear ladies, men of quality remember women equality. Do not let harassment be so common that it begins to feel ‘normal’. You all have your younger female siblings, cousins, and friends, the only way to contribute to a stop is by empowering them. Be open to them.

Express your encounter and help them through the dark stage you have passed, or even better, save them from that dark stage. You can not cure the pain you have faced, but you can cure the silence behind it.

Disclaimer: This letter is directed towards women empowerment. It has no intentions to hurt anyone. It is solely directed towards encouraging women to speak up, and especially those who encounter a dark situation in life or those who are oppressed and can not take action or speak up.
