Pakistani women have earned recognition on the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) ‘100 Women for 2024’ list, which celebrates individuals from around the world making a meaningful impact.

A famous singer and songwriter from Pakistan Hadiqa Kiani. In the 1990s she became famous because of her beautiful voice. Besides music, she works hard to help people. After the big floods in 2022, Hadiqa started a project called Vaseela-e-Raah. Through this project, she has helped build 370 homes for families in need. The BBC praises her as a strong role model in South Asia’s music world.

Maharang Baloch

Maharang Baloch is a doctor and human rights activist from Balochistan. She bravely speaks up for missing people in her region. In 2023, she led a long march, walking 1,600 kilometers to Islamabad to demand justice. Even though she was arrested twice, she never gave up. She also started the Baloch Yakjehti (Unity) Committee to fight for human rights. TIME magazine also named her in its TIME100 Next 2024 list.

These two women show how courage and kindness can bring hope and make the world a better place.
