To be diagnosed with infertility can be extremely devasting. On an average, 1 out of every 6 couple hears the bad news of infertility.

Couples who have to work their way on finding the cure to the fertility issue often do not know the numerous natural options they can opt for.

For those who are not aware of this, there are two prime cases of infertility one needs to keep in mind:

1. Primary Infertility:

When a couple is trying to conceive after performing intercourse without any protection, this falls under primary infertility.

2. Secondary Infertility:

The couple who previously gave birth to children are unable to conceive again falls under the bracket of secondary infertility.

To understand more about infertility, one needs to know the cause of it.

One of the most common causes among women in terms of infertility includes ovulation troubles, commonly revolving around the damaged uterus, cervix and fallopian tubes. Age also contributes much to these issues as with age, the fertility among women decreases.

The Causes of Troubles During Ovulation May Include the Following:

  • A hormone imbalance
  • A tumor or cyst
  • Eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia
  • Alcohol or drug use
  • Thyroid gland problems
  • Excess weight
  • Stress
  • Intense exercise that causes a significant loss of body fat
  • Extremely brief menstrual cycles

The Damage to Uterus or Fallopian Tubes Could be Due to the Following:

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • A previous infection
  • Polyps in the uterus
  • Endometriosis or fibroids
  • Scar tissue or adhesions
  • Chronic medical illness
  • A previous ectopic (tubal) pregnancy
  • A birth defect
  • DES syndrome (The medication DES, given to women to prevent miscarriage or premature birth can result in fertility problems for their children)

Abnormal Cervical Mucus

Another aspect which leads to infertility is Abnormal cervical mucus. It is the issue which blocks the sperm from reaching the egg. In other cases, it may make it difficult for the sperm to penetrate the egg.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Hormonal balance effects how the body reacts and responds. PCOS is a common issue among women. The hormone imbalance may lead to:

  • Hirsutism (Excessive body hair/thinning of hair on head)
  • Small cysts in the ovaries
  • Skin problems
  • Insulin resistance
  • Weight gain
  • Irregularities in menstrual cycle

Women diagnosed with PCOS may have all or a just a few of the above-stated symptoms.

The causes of female infertility are natural – due to illness or genetically associated. Therefore, there are no approaches towards how to prevent it from happening, but the cure can be done through treatments.
