We all have got that one friend who tries to copy us in every freaking thing. The one who compliments on your haircut and get the same haircut the next day, the one who compliments on the way you write or blog and starts writing the other day. The one who hates the girl with whom you roam around and starts roaming around with the same girl the next day.

Being a victim of identity theft is more than annoying. I’ve got so many friends who mirror my every move. I noticed that instead of appreciating or cherishing what I do, they try to copy me. If I tell them I’m thinking of wearing a black dress at a party the next day, they’d show up wearing the same!

Basically, some people just don’t understand what independent thinking is. They just can’t think and come up with their own ideas because they don’t have the courage to do so because they have a fear whether others will approve or not. But you will not become the one whom you try to copy or get the same life as others have.

But what I’ve learned is that it won’t affect them but us, because it will make us angry. If somebody wants to be like you, take it as a huge compliment because you’re amazing. If you have admirers, it’s not a big deal because they look up to you as a role model. But if they are jealous of you, cut such people from your life, don’t allow room for any negativity.

Before doing something big or small, don’t announce it until that thing has been done. The person who imitates someone has an unrevealed problem – like “insecurity”. If you have self-confidence, your own ideas, thoughts, and goals, you wouldn’t need to copy others. The one who can’t do things on their own will try to copy and this is what makes them worthless. Put your own spin on it, your own way of seeing things. Whatever you do, just be yourself, don’t imitate others.

Be yourself, do what you feel like. It’s useless to copy someone else.
