The unemployment rate in Pakistan has been increasing in the last four years, and according to research in The Nations, it has reached over 30 percent by the end of 2017. So when I found the job, I wanted to hold on to it. I forgot the prevalence of workplace hassle and the lack of laws to protect my rights. I’m writing this because I can’t find any other way to fight back and sometimes you need to fight back.

I’m a writer and I started writing for this guy named Imran Raza from Washington DC, in October. He was a bit inappropriate from the beginning and I tried to ignore it but my silence just kept encouraging his unwanted advances.

The conversations between us were awkward from start but it got a little out of the hand!

At first, he presented them as jokes, asking me to be his second wife or having an extramarital affair. I tried my best to ignore because I needed the job, but he just kept getting more explicit.

I would talk about hardcover books and he would take it to hardcore kept telling me how lewd he was all the time, I bluntly informed him that I’m uncomfortable with it and he needs to stop and he acknowledged my request to keep it professional but that didn’t stop him from acting like a pervert. So I finally snapped and gave him the final “No”

The next day he told me my articles were not good enough and if I quit, he’ll pay me the month’s salary on 1st December because he had already published my articles on 27th November. And then, I quit the job. On 1st December he told me he will pay before 7th December,  and on 7th December he said he’ll pay me on 1st January and then he refused to pay me AT ALL or reply to my texts or receive my calls.

I'm sharing this story to show that just because you're the boss, doesn't mean you'll get away with any kind of crap you…

Not just that he refused me my payments but he was harsh as hell!

The acknowledgment of the fact that he could do this to me and get away with it, is a miserable feeling. How many guys have had to leave their jobs because of their boss taking unwanted advances from them? It’s not the same race for us and I’m tired of staying silent. His name is Imran Raza and I’m holding him accountable for his actions.
