Yesterday, my husband came late from work. Usually, he comes home during lunch hours and we eat together. Naturally, I have developed a habit of seeing him at that time. So when yesterday he didn’t come, I missed his presence. He turned around at 7 in the evening, tired and exhausted. Like a good wife, I served him food immediately.

After years of living together, you tend to know what the other person is thinking. Or maybe wives are expert in these guessing games. “I’ll get some tea,” I said. He looked at me. No, no not lovingly but happily because I read his mind. I walked towards the kitchen to make tea for him and he started playing with our little daughter.

Kia hai yaar! Didn’t he miss me at all? I asked myself wiping my invisible tears. Can’t he say that he also missed me today but husbands are like that? They don’t romanticize petty things. I was looking at the tea which had become black when he said” idhar aao” loudly. My heart thumped. It missed a beat. I, at once, transformed myself into some Bollywood heroin and ran towards my hero because all the 90’s kids have grown up watching Shahrukh Khan movies. I was also one of them and DDLJ is my favorite till date.

But what my eyes saw, my heart refused to accept. I was numb. Thaaa… Nahiiiiiiiii… (imagine some scene from Indian soap) What happened..Why are you standing there?? Come quickly. He said, unaware of my feelings. I inhale. I exhale. Then unceremoniously entered the room and he handed over me THAT thing. No creepy lines. No blushing.

I quietly grabbed it and dragged myself towards where IT belongs.

To

the

Dustbin.

I dumped not only that but my Bollywood hangover too. It was dirty. Stinky! Diaper!!
