Discharged from Lahore General Hospital on December 6 after a months-long fight for survival, Rizwana detailed her traumatic experience with the legal team of the Child Protection Bureau present during the statement.

Chairperson Sarah Ahmed reassured Rizwana, emphasizing that she should not be afraid and should speak truthfully without influence from external sources. During her statement, Rizwana bravely alleged that even Civil Judge Asim Hafeez was involved in physically abusing her.

The 14-year-old domestic worker had been hospitalized in critical condition after facing torture from Somia Asim, the wife of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez. The shocking case gained public attention, leading to the arrest of Somia Asim. Subsequently, the media coverage played a crucial role in bringing the case to light, resulting in Somia Asim’s incarceration and eventual release on September 4, 2023. The survivor’s parents had taken her to a Lahore hospital, revealing the severe injuries inflicted by the judge’s wife.
