Sonali Bendre, the beautiful Bollywood diva had revealed about her cancer diagnosis a few weeks ago and left everyone heartbroken. Since then, she has received immense love and support from everyone around her including her family, her friends, the Bollywood stars and her fans.

Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them. There is no better way to tackle this, than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I’m taking this battle head on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me.

Sonali is fighting this battle with positivity and strength. Her high-grade cancer has been metastasized and made the situation more serious. In spite of it, she is all smiles while having her long locks chopped off.

And she’s slaying it!!

In the words of my favourite author Isabel Allende, “We don't even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward. In times of tragedy, of war, of necessity, people do amazing things. The human capacity for survival and renewal is awesome.” The outpouring of love I’ve received in the last few days has been so overwhelming… and I’m especially grateful to those of you who shared stories of your experiences in dealing with cancer, whether it was your own or of loved ones. Your stories have given me an extra dosage of strength and courage, and more importantly, the knowledge that I’m not alone. Each day comes with its own challenges and victories and so for now, I’m taking this #OneDayAtATime. The only thing I’m trying to be consistent about is maintaining a positive outlook… literally #SwitchOnTheSunshine – it’s my way of dealing with this. Sharing my journey is also part of this process… I can only hope it reminds you that all is not lost and that someone, somewhere understands what you’re going through. ?? Her husband has been a huge support throughout and has been there for her with every step of the way. Every day is a new challenge for Sonali but she knows that she can always count on her man. Nevertheless, she knew that she needed the support of another man in her life who is her son. Her 13-year-old son, Ranveer was not told explicitly about the exact situation until yesterday.

She has posted how she feels about her son and what was her son’s reaction to his mother’s situation. We are sure that these words, no matter how long the paragraphs are, cannot describe the exact feelings the mother and son are going through. Sonali tells us how she was contemplating about telling the news to her son. She is indeed an amazing person inside out who wanted to do her job well as a mother too.

She had recognized the fact that this news cannot stay hidden even for the good and it was important for her to tell Ranveer. And when she finally gathered the courage and strength to tell him, the reaction was what she was hoping but not expecting.

Ranveer has become yet another source of strength and support alongside her husband for Sonali. We are glad she told her son who encourages and motivates her every day to be strong.

The family should not let the kids live in oblivion in matters like these even if they are doing it to protect them. Sometimes, kids become the reason to keep moving forward and not give up.
