Amid the release of Veere Di Wedding and its ban in Pakistan due to “vulgar language and obscene scenes”, it created a chaos among the Pakistanis and the Indians. The cast of the film, which showed their soft-heartedness towards Pakistan was axed by the Indian extremists when the ban was announced.
After the film was banned in Pakistan, the video of Swara Bhaskar praising Pakistan was surfacing on social media. The old interview, while she was in Pakistan, was seen all over social media when the Indians started bashing the actress while relating it to ban of Veere Di Wedding.
" I can rest assure you that Pakistani's have way worse vocabulary than we do" – "@ReallySwara. Seems like Swara Bhasker has done a PhD on Pakistan and Pakistani's. I'm Pakistani and my language is not even near as bad as yours. SO PLEASEEEEEEEEE.

“They are a non-secular state. I am not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, a failing state – I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan,” – said Swara in this interview.
Swara received a lot of hate from Pakistan after these statements in addition to hypocrisy claims by both, Indians and Pakistanis.

The only problem i have with swara bhasker's statement is that she talks as if India doesn't have its own set of problems. Remember the death threats cast & crew of padmavat had? They've banned pakistani artists too.
Tho let's not act like there wasn't truth to what she said.— #WeAreWithKhadija (@FangirlAimy) June 3, 2018
But it seems actress Sonam Kapoor doesn’t have many words with the statements by Swara either.
In An Interview After the Ban, Sonam Kapoor Mentioned How A Lot of Films That Were Banned in Pakistan Were A Major Hit

In Addition To This, In An Interview, Sonam Supported the Words Made by Swara:
“I think people just like to troll her because she has an opinion and a point of view and I guess that shows how much they love her because the other side of hate is always love, so Swara, you have a lot of lovers!” – said Sonam Kapoor while speaking to the media.

Well, it seems banning the film was not a bad idea after all. But as a friend, it seems fine that she is supporting her friend and a co-star.
