Many times, the internet has had a massive discussion on how dancing is “vulgar” and not any specific type of dance but any women dancing in any form is just pure vulgarity! That’s what a huge number of people on the internet believe. Some even declared that it’s the women dancing on tv and on the internet that are causing all the harassment and assault.
We are moving towards a world and to the mindset that only blames the victim for the damage has already been done! And the worst part is that there’s no one to rectify it. The victim is silenced and the culprit goes free. But this is not the case every time. Many a time, some dances prove to be very wrong ethically and morally. Here is this video of a Punjab police constable who danced on a Bollywood song in her uniform, that too, on the shrine of Hazrat Fariduddin Ganjshakar in Pakpattan. This video did upset many people and is going viral on social media. There are many things on which people were offended by this video:
- One that she’s wearing her uniform.
- She’s dancing on the sufi shrine of Baba Farid which is considered the holiest in the whole region of South Asia.

However, nobody knows the real reason and circumstances behind the whole act so we can’t really judge someone. But the one thing that seems more wrong than other was to dance at the shrine. Even if a person does not respect the profession they are in, they still need to respect that they could be hurting other people’s sentiments.
