In the emerging societal issues surfacing on all over social media, these days include harassment, rape and murdering of men and mainly women in Pakistan. The international campaign #MeToo has revoked people all over the world and essentially why women in our country have started sharing different stories, asking for the people to see why they deserve a better, just and safe place.
Public transportation is used by people all over Pakistan, but have you ever noticed if a woman is seen traveling in it at night, it is considered “unsafe”?
Not because of the safety of the vehicle, but because of the vile men she may encounter.
And how to tackle that? “By dressing yourself properly and covering yourself from head to toe.” Correct?
Done.
Will this save her harassment?
“Of course.”

This is what harassment is. This is how unsafe traveling for women is. The problem isn’t her dressing or her full covered self but the mindset.
The problem is how these men get to roam around freely without any restrictions and without being caught.
