Social Media; Abundance, and High Expectations Lead to High Divorce Rates in Pakistan
Meanwhile, many scholars blame social media for high divorce rates. Furthermore, the use of social media has resulted in high expectations, and dreams of abundance, ultimately leading to violence, i.e. physical and mental abuse.
Interaction on social media has made youngsters independent. Therefore, parental consent is minimalist. Moreover, youngsters on social media develop high intimacy and financial expectations. So, failure to meet expectations often results in strains in relationships. Adding to it, mental abuse starts, ultimately leading to physical abuse.
Meanwhile, youngster independence has minimized parental role. Furthermore, parents play a pivotal role in boosting relationships between children. Meanwhile, celebrities and influencers also play a pivotal role. Constant marriage and divorce influence young people.

Prof. Dr Iqbal Afridi, head of the psychiatric department of JPMC, stated, “Nowadays, young boys and girls befriend each other on social media and get married with high financial expectations.” Moreover, he stated, “However, a few weeks into their marriage, they realize what they told each other on social media was not what the reality is”.
Therefore, as marriage unfolds, it becomes a dreadful experience for both partners. So, divorces are rising. Moreover, celebrated, as seen in the video.
