This Might possibly be the Best Explanation of what Islam Says about Sex

2296 views

Sex is one of those topics that is not discussed too openly amongst the Muslims. It is a topic that many don’t feel comfortable talking about and is avoided in many occasions. However, there are a few people in the Muslim community who are okay with the fact. Many Muslim scholars have also shed light on this matter educating Muslims on what is right and wrong.

However, a post regarding how Islam addresses sex surfaced on the internet a few days ago, and the people who came across it, found the way it was explained, simply beautiful. The person who wrote this note also clarified a misconception of how the west thinks that Muslims are anti-sex; especially focusing on Muslim women who don’t display their bodies out in public.

Here’s how it was explained:

Let’s talk sex. You know everyone and their auntie is gonna be reading this post. So I was on a panel and one of the audience members asked, ‘why are Muslims anti-sex?’ I asked for clarification. She said, ‘It seems like Muslims distance from casual sex or sensual pleasure especially the women who don’t display their body.’ My response…. Islam celebrates sensuality, sex, intimacy, and love between people however it does so with a sense of deep commitment and responsibility. We are taught from prophetic teaching to eat with mindfulness, sleep with mindfulness, speak with mindfulness, pray with mindfulness and yes…. to have sex with mindfulness. Marriage is meant to be that commitment and responsibility because intimacy is not just about the body it includes the mind and soul. Our prophetic teaching is that even when we say ‘I love you’ it’s with a sense of deep commitment and responsibility. There is actual weight and honor in those words, therefore the act of love then requires even a greater sense of integrity. The prophetic teaching within Islam celebrates sensuality within a marriage because it allows for there to be a deep sense of commitment to each other. It’s not simply an act of lust but when enjoined in a marriage it is in fact rewarded by the Divine as an act of worship. As far as the comment about Muslim women who wear hijab or dress modestly not coming across as sensual…I said to her ….there are plenty of hijabis who are ladies in the streets and freaks in bed so calm down…..and she laughed #amen #truthbetold

This couldn’t have been explained in a much beautiful way. And yes, Islam celebrates sensuality, sex, intimacy, and love between people, however, it does so with a sense of deep commitment and responsibility.

Also, let’s not miss out on her ending note – we loved it!
