One day I came through an incident of a girl that raised the question in my mind. Whenever I am alone, her mournful words agitate my mind and make me restless and thoughtful. They cause me to think of the question that: Why are we girls a burden? Why don’t people want to give birth to a girl? She was terrified of the gender discrimination of the society and her final words were: I will not give birth to a baby girl at any cost after marriage.

It’s very easy to say that this thought is wrong but the question is why she ended up with this thought??? Who led her to think like that? The answer was very obvious but very difficult to say because it’s us the parents and the society. These words raised a hundred questions in my mind but then I look upon myself too. I cannot deny the terrible truth of our society. Why does parent need boys? Maybe he seems to be strength in Anno Domino or he can face the problems of the society better than girls.

Although we consider ourselves civilized we are NOT. Her parent’s thoughts lead to the death of the personality of a girl. What if their sons left them? Who will be the strength then? Daughters? For the daughter, the main influence is her parents. They should consider their daughter thoughts and they should make them believe in their selves.

Today’s people have forbidden the fact that girls come with great reward and blessing. Children are a gift from Allah Almighty to parents. Our religion Islam does not condone this type of behavior. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) has stated that:

“When a boy is born, then he brings one Noor (light) and when a girl is born then she brings two Noor”

Our Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) also stated that:

“The person who is faced with hardship due to his daughters, and makes Sabr (is patient), then his daughter will be a paradise (curtain) between him and the Hell-Fire”

Daughters are no doubt a great blessing from Allah. They are mean of salvation and path in Jannah. I always see people love to have a mother, people love to have a wife, people love to have a sister, and people love to have a girlfriend but why not DAUGHTERS?

“Giving birth to a girl is not a curse instead it’s a blessing…… change your wrong perception…… change your wrong perception…… change your mentality……stop female foeticide and infanticide…… stop being so brutal”

The birth of a girl is not at all a fearful burden nor is it a bad omen. On the other contrary, it is a blessing to be thanked for and a mercy to be desired and requested because it is a blessing of the Almighty and a reward to be gained. Rejoice on the birth of your daughter. Love and guide them and give them that which is due to them form your belongings. Do not deprive them of their inheritance as they also have a say in this. Remember! Daughter is a blessing and not a burden.
