In the last few years, the arrival of these transportation companies have eased lives of many citizens. In fact, it has changed the lifestyle overall! People who were heavily charged by taxi and rickshaw drivers now pay a fair amount based on the kilometers and petrol prices.

But with benefits, comes a price to pay. But who knew that price would be paid much heavier than we could ever imagine. This girl, Aasia Iqbal, a student of Iqra University, booked a Careem to her home after the evening class. She sat in the car and was off to her home and on the way, the driver changed the route, which was clearly unknown to the girl. When she pointed to the driver that this is not the route to her house, the driver very cleverly told the girl that he’s taking a shorter route. A friend of the girl reported the whole case to Careem’s Facebook page and what actually happened shocked the internet.

Here’s what he wrote:

So my university colleague Aasia Iqbal, after our Advertising class, booked super safe Careem ride last night from Iqra University, the main campus to Kaemari around 10 pm.

The driver took a wrong route, when my friend asked him and forced him that he is taking the wrong route then he said it is a short way and he took her all the way from DHA to shaukat khanum hospital the road was empty and nobody was there. There he stopped the car and went out and came back with a sharp knife kind of weapon, but she got the intent.

Thanks to Allah, she managed to escape and went to the Shaukat Khanum hospital and now Careem’s captain is calling her from different numbers talking shit and harassing her.

We are not safe in Careem rides. Make sure all woman read this in our families who use Careem, Boycott them, May Allah protect us all.

The boy also shared the screenshot of driver’s details that Aasia took after she left the cab!

This is the Facebook post that scared people and questioned Careem for their safety credibility!

It was Aasia who believed in her instincts and left the car when the driver went off. But what’s more shocking he came back with a sharp knife. What did he intend to do? Well, there could be others who have a weapon like this hidden! This is beyond shocking. Something really needs to be done and concerned authorities need to look into this matter!

For now, there are a few things that could be done for the safety measures. Try checking the child lock before sitting in any car that you book. Also, do send the tracker to a family or a friend so they are informed of your location at all times and keep your phone charged to further update anyone who’s checking on you. Stay safe!
