In the city of Islamabad, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, there is a guy in his 30s harassing young girls and women right in the center of the city, sector I-8. Yes, this is the same city which seems to be developed and independent of gender discrimination.

This guy has been roaming the streets for two years now. His actions are simple, yet creepy. He comes on a motorbike and puts his shalwar down, grabs a young girl and asks her: ‘Pakarlo isko’. And, most of the times, girls succeed in escaping due to public nature of the place.

This has now started happening every other day as the harasser appears in the streets right around the time when girls and women come back from schools and universities. It’ll be useful to mention that AIOU is in the vicinity. Just yesterday, it was rumored, few women tried to hit him with stone and bricks while he tried to escape.

The conditions have reached to such an extreme that parents are refraining to send their daughters to school until the police take any appropriate action as the instances take place in daylight and that too on public roads.

If we don’t nip the evil in the bud, we will witness its expansion to more areas. And God forbid, our mothers, daughters and sisters could be next.
