Whether you live with your in-laws or not, they play an important role in your life especially in the early days of your marriage. The laws of in-laws can be tricky and uncomplicated but obviously, you need time for learning those unsaid rules of your significant other’s home.

So, before you step into the roller coaster ride, here are a few tips (or you can say ‘Lakshman Rekha’) for you to be on the right track!

1. Don’t Give Them Details About YOURSELF!

If you are a feminist or anti-feminist, a supporter of PML-N or PTI, an introvert or extrovert, how awesome you were in university and how people appreciated your beauty, just don’t reveal yourself. Praising yourself can’t be encouraged at all and anywhere!

2. Don’t Spend Time With Them When You Don’t Want To!

You’ll be invited to numerous family get-togethers and at times you don’t want to dress up because of laziness or whatever, just say a simple ‘NO’. But yes, refuse them politely!

3. Don’t Share Your Secret Stuff Talk Or Private Moments With Them

Every relationship demands trust; especially a husband and wife who are complete strangers to one another at first. Both of them are in process of knowing each other but if you are revealing all the personal matters with his mother, he won’t trust you again!

4. Don’t Lie

Never ever think of lying to your in-laws for a good impact, even ignore white lies. But if there is a need of lying, be a diplomat who plays smartly and tactfully!

5. Don’t Be The ‘Perfect Bahu’

For winning the title of ‘Perfect Bahu’, you’ll lose your self-esteem because no such thing exists in this world as perfect! If you are not in a mood to cook then don’t cook, if you want to go for a movie with your sister-in-law, please go. Show your in-laws that you are not flawless, otherwise, you’ll have to keep this facade your entire life! Be who you are!

6. Don’t Force Yourself To Find The Similarity Which Doesn’t Exist

Being skeptical about relatives, bragging about phoppho with your in-laws won’t make you comfortable in the house. Let the relationships and closeness develop with time and naturally!
