When I was a kid, I was afraid of devils and today, I am afraid of the humans of our society. When I was a kid, I used to be afraid of the dogs on the street and today when I walk alone, I get afraid of the people on the street.

I was born independent. But today, I’m like a prisoner in this society. When I walk on the street, everyone gazes at me like I am a piece of art in an exhibition. While I am walking, the taunts from the people of the street make me feel uneasy. People of the street scan me from head to foot. They judge me by my dressing style. People of the street are concerned with my walking style.

I feel uncomfortable after becoming the view sight of many people. I feel like someone is pushing me into a fire and I experience this on a daily basis. It’s a sin for me to laugh in a public place because according to the logic of society, “If a girl is laughing, she is characterless”.

I’m just a simple, ordinary girl. I seek independence from society. Not to dance or go to bars, but I want independence for living my own life in my own style. I want to be free from those eyes that gaze me daily while I am on my way to college. I want to be free from judgemental comments which I listen to daily.

I want to shout and tell you that my character is not described by my dressing sense. My smile in a public place is not an indication for you to do bad with me.

Why is this society slaughtering dreams of many girls, daily? Being a girl is enough for many to cry daily in this society. Each and every girl of society request this society to allow them to live their lives because the way our society is are treating them; many girls don’t live, they just exist!
