We all saw the life-changing story of the biker girl, Zenith Irfan. After which, a biopic was made where Sohai Abro played the role of Zenith. Zenith fulfilled her father’s dream of traveling up north on a bike. She faced many challenges, for a girl is “not supposed” to ride a bike. She heard people call her names, she was harassed on the roads. She was catcalled whenever she rode the bike. There are many girls who share a similar story as Zenith and who took it upon themselves to get what they want while filling the air with dust from the back wheel of the bike.

So, Nida is 15-year-old and a resident of Karachi. Her father pushed her and her younger sister to be strong and fierce. He got both of them training kits for boxing and taught them to drive a bike, truck, and even rickshaw. Now, Nida and her sister are trained boxers who have won a silver medal in the tournament. Nida being the responsible teenager saw the situation of her house where she realized that things can turn upside down and being dependent on someone else is not an option left for her.

She learned to drive a truck so she could earn!

All this was possible because Nida’s father supported the girls and let them be independent. Her father said that “I have complete faith in my daughter that wherever she goes, she’ll not be beaten up”.

Sure on that but she can surely beat someone else up who tries to catcall or harass her. Teaching the girl the basic safety measures for protection should be the first priority. As it is important to realize the threat, it is also important to tackle the threat rightly!
