A major issue in the world we live in is how the set standards, rules are rubbed on people’s face. For example, as little as to how when a baby boy is born, his room is decorated blue and a baby girl’s pink. Why? Who set this rule? Why blue for boy and pink for a girl? And when these innocent kids grow up to choose anything otherwise, they are judged or taught to follow the standards.
Seems like these standards are passed on to generations, blindly; without much introspection, whether they stand logical or not. How proudly a girl is announced to get married right after her graduation pretty much seems like buying a beautiful crockery piece to be showcased in the drawing room and never to be used. So, this girl’s video went viral on social media for all the right reasons! She said something in the video which many people somehow wanted to say but couldn’t. So she voiced the opinion of hundreds of people.

So, it all started with a girl getting divorced and how she’s of no use and good for nothing. Well, socially yes! She’s isolated from people, she’s “ineligible” to get married because somehow society has decided that a divorced girl is not eligible to get married again. Apart from this discussion, she mentions how people force girls to stay in the marriage despite whatever she’s going through. Let alone accept the fact of “marital rape”! These girls are forced to stay in a marriage because “log kia kaheingy?” Isn’t that the case always?
As a matter of fact, our society has declared it a holy rule for marriage to be the MOST important thing in life. If a divorced girl stays single, her life is going to end. So, ultimately marriage is the standard set for success. No? Sumaiya said it in perfect vocabulary that how voicing your opinion is not even a choice here. There are societies who grow because they give the right to a commoner to voice the opinion, though they are not perfect…
