Last night when everyone was quite busy in the usual routine and were scrolling through their social media, a Facebook status of a girl was circulating. This girl told about how her friend jumped from the 4th-floor of the university building in front of her.
Rushaan Farukh was a student from BNU Lahore and as her friends quoted, she was an inspiration to many. She was pretty, witty, intelligent and everything a perfect girl would have in her. But, only if mental illness was apparent like a bruise maybe people would have been more empathetic to Rushaan. Maybe she would have able to lay her burden off, maybe she could have become the best version of herself that she wanted. Only if people would have been a little kind to her.
What she wrote on her Instagram tells a lot about what she went through – How depression hits like a comet!
As stated by Rushaan’s friend who witnessed her jumping from the building; Rushaan was dressed in a bright orange sweater and a pair of jeans. She was looking very pretty; she was dangling her legs sitting there from the place she jumped. Rushaan’s friend was shouting at her to not jump but all she did was to stare at her for a while and then finally decided to jump.
Nodoby went up to Rushaan and pull her off from the roof. Everyone thought she’s doing an attention-grabbing stunt! How insensitive we have become.
Before she jumped and decided to take her life; she posted a very beautiful photo of hers in a yellow saari. Saying that, “If I decided to kill myself anytime soon, I want you all to remember me like this. Just in this saree, on a spring afternoon looking happy, too happy!”.
Everyone is devastated to hear this news, why did nobody hear her inner cry? Why was she so mute to people around her. She could have been alive today.

Extremely distressing to find out tht Rushaan Farrukh,a BNU student & close friend of my sister,who jumped from 4th floor & passed away.When will this society realise depression amongst youth is a serious issue?

All these details are just sickening!
If anything, I feel filthy to be a part of a society that can't get their heads out of their self righteous asses where a mental disease has to do with how many times are you praying.
