In last month there have been many incidents reported by girls, alone in Karachi. From either of the online taxi services (Uber and Careem). In the past few days, there have been many incidents reported alone of kidnapping. Later the ones who escaped the attempt of kidnapping share their incidents of getting kidnapped.
This girl who jumped from a running car shocked everyone to death! On Saturday, news channel broke this news on the TV and people were later concerned about the girl.
According to her statement, the driver allegedly tried to kidnap her and was taking a wrong route which did not go her destination; she also said that the driver was smirking through the rare view mirror. She stated that the driver’s behavior was not of the good conduct which made her suspicious.
But when the driver’s statement was taken, it turned the case upside down!
The driver said that he is of old age, he too has daughters and he never intended to anything what she taught. He said that she changed her route in the mid of ride, which made him take a different route. He also asked the police to see the track record of his previous ride, and also of the said ride to see if he’s lying or not.
As stated in the news and everywhere else, the taxi service in question was Uber. People started asking the integrity of Uber, many people went on to ask Uber how can they hire such drivers.
But last night Uber generated their official statement saying that in this case, it was not Uber’s driver or service.
Here’s what they said:
In light of recent reports, we have looked into the alleged incident and it appears that it did not happen on Uber. Uber is committed to the safety of our riders and drivers, along with reliability and convenience. We stand ready to assist law enforcement any way we can.

This case can’t be put into either side’s basket. Both the girl and driver’s statement are completely contradicting; it could be that the girl misinterpreted the driver’s behavior or the driver was trying to play smart and is lying now
