One of the sacred destinations of Pakistan, Faisal Mosque is considered to be the most beautiful tourist attraction. People who are visiting Islamabad from different cities and countries always look forward to paying this masjid a visit at least once during their visit.

Since October a.k.a ‘Pinktober’ is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness, people around the world observe the month with different campaigns or by simply wearing a pink ribbon. Last weekend, on 22nd October, Faisal Mosque was also glistening in pink and purple lights in solidarity with breast cancer patients. It is said that the campaign was initiated by Pink Ribbon Campaign in order to draw some attention towards breast cancer.

However, apart from the people who were supporting the cause, there were some who simply got offended by the whole initiative and questioned as to why would a ‘Mosque’ show solidarity with a disease like ‘Breast Cancer’? Concerns were raised when a Pakistani, BBC Multimedia Journalist, tweeted a picture of Faisal Mosque…

Here’s the tweet:

Can we appreciate anything in life?

People couldn’t stop giving laanats… So wrong

We really need to be wise with our words…

Fatwas, fatwas everywhere…

Doesn’t make you any less of an idiot…

Faisal Mosque wasn’t the only place that showed solidarity. In the beginning of the month, the Parliament House was also lit up with pink lights, for 3 days.

Many women have lost their lives due to breast cancer and CONTINUE TO; the least we can do is support the cause and help raise awareness by whatever possible effort. Being hateful towards someone’s efforts and goodwill won’t make any difference; although you supporting it, can.
