First of all, let’s start with the term beauty. Nowadays, beauty is attributed to color and shape. Well, I totally disagree with the definition of beauty that is given on Google and many other websites. They say that;

“Beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.”

I totally disagree. Beauty is not related to shape, color, features of someone. It’s us who have made the formula of beauty which is; zero figure+ fair complexion = beauty.

Movies, magazines, designers did every possible thing to impose this equation on everything. Have you ever seen a plus-sized actress doing a lead role? No. Have you ever seen plus-sized women on the cover of magazines? No, at least not in Pakistan. Have you ever spotted plus-sized models on ramps? No. We have never seen this and we will not. Because if it would happen then it will contradict with all the beauty facts and myths.

Being fat has been made equal to being a criminal. They are made so worthless that they start hating themselves. No matter how great of a personality they have, no matter what abilities they have, no matter how big their dreams are. If they are fat, then they deserve to be hated and depreciated all the time. They are always made to feel embarrassed.

If they want to wear nice dresses like the skinny ones, first of all, the shopkeeper gives a pathetic look like, “What bro? Am I an alien”? Then, if somehow they manage to put on a nice dress, people will start complaining, “Oh you should not wear such dresses. They make you look fat.” Come on, they have a heart too. Stop worrying about how I look and start worrying about your deeds and typical thinking. Whenever they are eating, they always get to hear the same thing, which is: “Please stop eating. You need to take healthy diet.”

There are gyms, clinics that urge fat ones to come to them because it’s a serious issue if you are fat. And all the other ones who are not fat are there passing comments and giving suggestions on how to lose fat. Ugh. And there are much more things that make fat ones feel ashamed of themselves. Why can’t you designers make clothes for every body type? What’s the big deal in it man? If you are making something for people then make the same one for the plus ones too.

If you are casting the skinny ones then why can’t you cast the fat ones? They might act better than the skinny ones. Why is being fat, a taboo? Is it something worse than being a liar, cheater, unkind, cruel? No, it is not. Just imagine you being scolded all the time for your body shape. Would you be okay with that? Why can’t you just let them live like they want to live?

During your bad days, when you need help or when you need someone to listen to you, do you check their weight first?  I need your help, but let me check if you fit in all those beauty standards or not? Come on. They are humans too. They deserve happiness in their lives too. You have no right to make them feel miserable about themselves. Make this world a better place for them. Start complimenting them. Start accepting them. Start appreciating them for being a wonderful person and having those abilities. Stop taking them for granted. Stop body shaming. Stop making them feel bad about their bodies.
