As I am a media student, and a blogger, I have experienced some of the proverbs regarding women wisdom on daily basis, ie. “Aurat hi to hai” “Aurat tu fasad ki jarh hai” “Aurat ki aqal ghutno mai hai” “Aurat aik fitna hai”, and all these words and statements just made me think about that, are really we women are the bone of contention? If our “Aqal” lies in our knees why Lord said that “Insan ki pehli darsgah maa ki aghosh hai”?

If we are really that dumb, why has Almighty blessed us with  Motherhood. These questions made me think that all those who think we girls are dumb are actually afraid of us. They are afraid to admit that we are as blessed as they are, we are as strong as they are. And they are aware of the fact that we get a chance to prove ourselves they won’t control us.

I am from a middle-class family and I am the eldest sister. Even my family members have referred me with the sentence “tum hi qabo me nahi tu choto ko kia kahy”? They are unable to control me because I chose Media Advertisement as my profession and I am raising my voice against unfair disputes.

Why can’t this society accept us as a separate individual? We can think, we can feel too, we can bring change in this society. If I am not wrong, we girls are blessed with some amazing stuff, we can fight and be cute at the same time. We can work and manage the house at the same time, we can study and work at the same time,we can be daughter, mother, wife and a working women/social worker at the same time We have a tendency to do amazing stuff and spin this society all we need is a little bit of encouragement and lot more exposure.

But this conservative society sees us as an exchange offer if a brother does something bad, society asks his sister or mother to compensate them, sometimes by marrying someone, sometimes as acid victims, sometimes as raped victims. How long will the people cage us for the sake of their so-called honor? How long will this society slaughter us in the name of honor killing?

This needs to end here. We have to raise our voice against these platitudes; Don’t take these proverbs too lightly. Raise your voice to secure your identity.
